This video shows a simple training exercise delivers two vastly different problems to solve for the team in attack. First, the players must decide who to break-down a team that is sitting in a low block, limiting the space to attack in and behind them. The attacking team has unlimited time in their possession to score. The attacking team should focus on finding the spaces to attack, moving the defense from side to side, to open up spaces.
The second problem the attacking team faces in this exercise, is a team that is holding a high line, with the constraint of only having 10 seconds in possession to score. This requires a more direct thought process by the players, where is the space, how can we exploit it fast, can we get a shot off within 10 seconds?
This type of training develops the soccer brain by creating changing environments that require new solutions to become successful.
