Soccer Finishing Movements of the Front Four Attackers

This is great exercise to not only supply players with ideas for movements in the final third, but it also gets them familiar with the exact space they will be executing those movements in, during an actual game. If the area is your home field, it will further imprint a cognitive map in the players brain, as the brain picks up on spatial indicators all around the field – all this is subconscious but very valuable. To gain a full understanding of how player understand space, look up my article on head directional cells, place cells and grid cells. This is why it is so important to train or at least spend time walking the field for all away games, it allows the athletes brain to draw a spatial road map of their surroundings.
